Terpene balsam and diseases of the genitourinary system

The main diseases of the genitourinary system are cystitis, pyelonephritis, prostatitis, urethritis, and urolithiasis. These diseases affect the kidneys, bladder, and urethra. The root causes of the development of genitourinary diseases can be different. For example, cystitis occurs due to an inflammatory process occurring in the bladder. Calcium kidney stones can occur for a variety of reasons, from hereditary predisposition to living in a hot climate.

Terpene balsam prevents the development of infections and inflammatory reactions, and also has a diuretic effect. These properties make it an effective prophylactic agent for diseases of the genitourinary system.

Please Note! If you have already been diagnosed with any disease of the genitourinary system, consult your doctor before taking terpene balsam.

Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect

Terpene balsam supports the health of the genitourinary system because:

  • It prevents the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Bacteria are often the causative agents of inflammatory processes that lead to pyelonephritis. An experiment has proven that pine nut oil reduces the population of bacteria Enterococcus casseliflavus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. [1]
  • It accelerates the healing of mucosal lesions. Due to this, terpene balsam prevents diseases of the gastrointestinal tract that are inextricably linked with the genitourinary system.
  • It has a disinfecting effect due to the fact that resin contains esters and alcohols.
  • It contains nutrients that activate large granular lymphocytes (natural killer cells, NK cells). [2] These cells are involved in the fight against any pathogens and thus affect any inflammatory processes.

Diuretic and lithokinetic effect

Terpenes are a component of many medications prescribed by urologists. This is due to their diuretic effect. It has been found that terpene-containing drugs increase diuresis and at the same time reduce the density of urine without increasing the excretion of salts by the kidneys. [3] Less urine density and increased urination volume are effective in preventing the formation of stones in the genitourinary system.

Some studies showed that terpenes were highly effective in spontaneously expelling stones from the ureter.[4] Please Note! Do not use terpene balsam as a substitute for medication prescribed by your doctor. Check with your doctor if you can use terpene balsam as an adjunct to therapy.

Be healthy!
