Pine nut oil for arthritis

Joint diseases reduce the quality of life. One of the most common joint diseases is arthritis. This is an inflammatory process that affects the joint area, due to which pain can occur during movement and at rest. In the absence of proper treatment, arthritis can lead to the spread of inflammation to other organs (kidneys, liver, etc), and then to disability.

Doctors agree that for the treatment of joints, first of all, it is necessary to adjust the diet. Numerous studies show that sufficient amounts of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats must be consumed to alleviate arthritis. [1] At the same time, you should minimize your intake of saturated fats and trans fats (a harmful type of unsaturated fats). [2]

What oils can be used for arthritis?

A good dietary supplement for such a diet is pine nut oil, rich in unsaturated fat acids: primarily rare pinolenic, but also alpha-linolenic, oleic, and linoleic. However, not every pine nut oil is suitable for use by a person with arthritis. With any processing (refining, heating), unsaturated fatty acids in vegetable oils can be transformed into harmful trans fats, and vitamins that are beneficial for joints are destroyed when heated. For this reason, only raw and cold-pressed pine nut oil has a therapeutic effect in arthritis.

Siberian Pine Nut Oil is raw, cold-pressed, and non-processed. It contains only healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that have anti-inflammatory properties and promote the regeneration of damaged joints.

When choosing other vegetable oils, you should always clarify whether they are processed and by what methods they are produced. In addition, there are two types of  vegetable oils that are prohibited for consumption in any form:

  • Palm oil, 50% of unhealthy saturated fats
  • Coconut oil, the main component of which is lauric acid (saturated).

Benefits of Polyphenols for Arthritis

In the treatment of arthritis, vitamin P is extremely important. In terms of the content of this vitamin, pine nut oil is 3 times higher than popular dietary supplements based on fish oil. Vitamin P belongs to bioflavonoids – one of the groups of polyphenols, an important property of which is a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect. Due to this effect, polyphenols can be used in the treatment of arthritis. Studies in animal models of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout show good results in reducing tissue damage and restoring cartilage homeostasis.[3]

Thus, with arthritis, it is extremely important to include unsaturated fatty acids and polyphenols in the diet, the source of which is Siberian pine nut oil.
