Pine nut oil enriched with pine resin (it is also called turpentine balsam) is a powerful antioxidant and antiseptic that has long been known to the indigenous peoples of Siberia. It can be used as a supplement to one’s diet as well as for external purposes.
Thanks to the high content of vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acids and microelements pine nut oil with resin is an excellent natural substitution for skin care products.
The use of pine nut oil enriched with pine resin in regular skin care helps to solve the following problems:
- Dry skin
- Premature aging
- Negative effects of environmental pollution
- Skin diseases such as eczema, dermatitis and acne — the balsam is effective for their treatment, in particular, due to the high content of linoleic acid in cedar nut oil and antibacterial properties of resin.
You can use turpentine balsam either alone or as part of homemade cosmetics where other ingredients enhance and complement its effect. Here are the four great recipes to share with you!
The rule of thumb for all masks is as higher the concentration of resin in the balsam as greater the antibacterial and regeneration effect.
Strengthening hair mask
- 1 tablespoon pine nut oil enriched with pine resin
- 3 drops rosemary essential oil
- 1 drop cinnamon essential oil
Stir the ingredients well and apply the mixture to the hair roots rubbing it gently with your fingertips. Cover your head with a towel and leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse. This mask nourishes scalp, restores hair structure and stimulates hair growth.
Hair mask: shine and volume
- 2 teaspoons pine nut oil enriched with pine resin (concentration 5-20%)
- 1 raw egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt (no additives!)
Mix the ingredients and apply the mask along the entire length of the hair. Cover your head with a towel and leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse. The components of the mask help to normalize metabolism of oily scalp and make hair shiny and silky.
Nourishing face mask
- 2 tablespoons pine nut oil enriched with pine resin
- handful of shelled pine nuts
- 2 tablespoons honey
Mash the nuts until they turn into a paste, add honey and turpentine balsam and mix all the ingredients well. Apply the mask to the face in circular movements, lightly massage and wait for 5-7 minutes. Then wipe off your face with a tissue and rinse with warm water. The mask can be applied every week as a nourishment for dry skin. It also helps to cure skin rashes and acne.
- 2 teaspoons pine nut oil enriched with pine resin
- coffee grounds
- 4 drops of any citrus fruit essential oil: orange, grapefruit, tangerine
After mixing all the ingredients, apply the scrub to wet and softened with warm water skin — it is best to use it in a shower. Use circular motions to massage your skin, then rinse. The scrub promotes exfoliation and renewal of the skin and helps to avoid stretch marks and age-related changes.
Pine nut oil enriched with pine resin is one of the keys to healthy and glowing skin! You can also compose your own recipe for homemade cosmetics using natural ingredients.
