The benefits of pine nut oil enriched with sea buckthorn for vision and as a prevention of eye disease

The WHO estimates that around 1.3 billion people around the world are visually impaired. Many of the problems can be prevented: for example, 510 million people have impaired vision due to presbyopia (age-related changes) that are not corrected in a timely manner. Pine nut oil enriched with sea buckthorn prevents eye diseases because it is rich in antioxidants, strengthens the blood vessels in the eye, and contains nutrients that have been proven effective in preventing glaucoma and cataracts.

Protection against oxidative stress

Oxidative stress damages the very thin capillaries in the eyes. Free radicals cause inflammation in them, damaging their structure, causing leakage and exudation of blood plasma. They can also cause blockages, clots, and spasms of retinal vessels. Free radicals can damage the eye’s photoreceptors.[1]

Pine nut oil enriched with sea buckthorn contains a huge amount of antioxidant substances, including a triad of antioxidant vitamins (A, C, and E), flavonoids, and anthocyanins. The maximum benefit for the eyes can be achieved by using pine nut oil with sea buckthorn, since pure pine nut oil has a low content of vitamin C and does not contain anthocyanins.

Strengthening blood vessels

Weakness and fragility of the blood vessels in the eye leads to systemic disorders. So, age-related changes (presbyopia and hypermetropia) are associated with this problem. To avoid these diseases, significantly delay their onset, or slow down the progression of the disease, doctors recommend adding some vitamins and minerals to the diet.

Pine nut oil enriched with sea buckthorn contains nutrients that strengthen the blood vessels in the eye and nourish the retina: beta-carotene, tocopherols, vitamin PP, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and rutin. In addition, B vitamins (B2, B6, and B12) increase blood circulation in the optic nerve.

Prevention of cataracts and glaucoma

The most common age-related visual impairments are cataracts and glaucoma. They significantly impair vision and can eventually lead to blindness. Numerous studies have confirmed that the nutrients contained in pine nut oil and sea buckthorn effectively prevent the development of these diseases. Vitamin E [2], vitamin C [3], zinc, and calcium have this property. A large-scale experiment with various nutrient patterns confirmed the effectiveness of all these nutrients, as well as oleic acid, cobalamin, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).[4]

Regular intake of pine nut oil enriched with sea buckthorn is the key to clear vision for many years to come!
